We Camped!
In Pea Soup The Campervan!
Oh my goodness it feels like it's been a long time coming. I will admit that I have NOT been very patient about this.
I missed camping. Mostly because I like getting away from all the household chores and having my family to myself, parking up in the middle of a field somewhere, sitting outside, exploring somewhere new. It felt like we haven't done that for two years now? Not sure how long it's been and I don't want to check.

Hubby seems favour sharing his progress and work on a VW forum, but I can tell you that he has worked long and hard to make this happen. I don't know exactly what he has been doing but I do know that there was a lot of spray painting, re-covering, re-building, re-upolstering,  re-grafting and fiddling.
All sorts of things.
A lot of all sorts of things.
And I have an inkling that he's not done yet. But I'll worry about that later.

To cut a long story short, it turned out to be a lot more work than he predicted. (Or maybe he knew it was going to be a lot of work and was just trying to placate me.)

But she's campable now, and that's what matters.
The little guy loves his hammock type bed that rests over the driver and passenger seats.

It's a bunk bed as the dog sleeps underneath.

Fabulous surround views from his bunk.

The older kids share the top bunk and it seems to have plenty of space, a great view from three sides and even comes with reading lights.

Our van from above. It's there next to the bell tent.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the interior.
I did tidy up a bit for the picture. It was so nice to see everything after it has been covered in tools and what-nots for so long.  I really don't think that he could have chosen a better van to suit our style.
One of my criteria was that it didn't get renovated beyond recognition of character and that it should be a useable, relaxing place to be.  We have three kids, a dog and we are not overly tidy people. I wouldn't want to be worried about moving or touching anything.

There are reading lights and even phone charging stations dotted around.

But don't ask me what all these things do.
I'll need to learn soon.

There are overhead reading lights, but the book light is more subtle and less annoying for the hubs when I want to stay up reading all night.
No; I did not read those books. I tried. I thought it would be fun to re-visit Sweet Valley High, but I couldn't cope with it.
I did devour The Actor by Douglas Gardham over the weekend though.
The cubby holes and I are at the beginning of our love affair.Genius design. You can never have enough places to stash stuff. There is even a little wardrobe with a mirror!

Ahhh home sweet home on wheels.
No one wanted the camping weekend to end.

I cannot wait until next time.
Thank you Hubby for a most excellent camping vehicle.
